Eversley’s green spaces, countryside and rural views are an important part of what makes our parish such a special place to live.

\r\nEvery village has its own unique character. Eversley is known for its attractive rural setting, historic buildings, green spaces, tree-lined lanes and distinctive pattern of development.
\r\nAs new homes are built over the coming years, it is important that they strengthen these qualities rather than gradually erode them.
\r\nThe Design Guidance and Code has been prepared to help ensure that future development respects what makes Eversley special. It is not about preventing change—it is about making sure that change is well designed and enhances the village for future generations.
\r\nThis approach was presented at the Community Open Day on 28th February 2026 and received overwhelming support. The Neighbourhood Plan Working Group subsequently worked with AECOM consultants to produce the final document.
\r\nThe Design Code will be used by developers, architects, landowners, Hart District Council and Eversley Parish Council when considering planning applications. The document is quite technical, and this summary has been created to make it more accessible to non-planners. One of the strongest messages from our community survey was that residents value Eversley's distinctive character. From its rural setting and historic buildings to its green spaces, mature trees and varied village streetscapes, people consistently told us that protecting the unique identity of the parish is a priority.
\r\nAs the Neighbourhood Plan develops, one of the tools being considered is the creation of an Eversley Design Code. This important document will be shared with Hart Planning and once accepted will be taken into account prior to the Neighbourhood Plan being completed.
\r\nThe creation of a Design Code document was presented at the Community Open Day in February 2026. The attendees were asked for their views on this approach and gave unanimous support for the proposal.
\r\nA Design Code is a set of locally agreed principles that describe what good development should look like in a particular area.
\r\nRather than focusing on whether development should happen, a Design Code focuses on how development should take place. It can provide guidance on issues such as:

The Eversley Neighbourhood Plan took an important step forward in November 2025 with the launch of a parish-wide Community Survey.
\r\nDelivered to households across the parish, the survey invited residents to share their views on what makes Eversley special, the challenges facing the community and their aspirations for the future.
\r\nThe response provided invaluable insight into the priorities, concerns and ideas of local people, creating a strong evidence base that will help guide the development of the Neighbourhood Plan.

\r\nThe purpose of the survey was simple: to ensure that the Neighbourhood Plan reflects the views of the people who live and work in Eversley.
